5. What is the difference between “Stay” & “Away”?
Generally speaking, arming to “Stay” means the system is expecting you to stay inside the premise. Interior motions will not arm because there will be movement inside. If you open a Entry/Exit door during the Exit Delay, your system will default to “Away” and motions will be turned on.
Arming to “Away” means the system is expecting someone to leave after arming. All devices will be armed. If you open an Entry/Exit door to leave during the Exit Delay, an alarm will not sound. However, if you do not open an Entry/Exit door during the Exit Delay, the system will default to “Stay” and motion detectors will not be armed.
**Note: A door not specified as an Entry/Exit door will cause an alarm to sound if opened during or after the system is armed, this also includes window sensors**
