1. My keypad is beeping, what do I do?
If you are experience a series of little beeps or one beep continuously press the STATUS button on your system (or asterisk * button) and make note of what it says. Do your disarming procedure twice. This should stop any beeps for up to 12 hours. Please call the office if the beeping continues after that.
2. What is the difference between arming to “Stay” & “Away”?
Generally speaking, arming to “Stay” means the system is expecting you to stay inside the premise. Interior motions will not arm because there will be movement inside.
Arming to “Away” means the system is expecting someone to leave after arming. All devices will be armed. If you open an Entry/Exit door to leave during the Exit Delay, an alarm will not sound. However, if you do not open an Entry/Exit door during the Exit Delay, the system will default to “Stay” and motion detectors will not be armed.
**Note: A door not specified as an Entry/Exit door will cause an alarm to sound if opened during or after the system is armed, this also includes window sensors**
3. How do I change the battery on my smoke detector?
For GE Wireless Smoke Detectors, you will use 2- CR123A Lithium Batteries. It’s important once you change the batteries, the smoke detector gets placed on the base correctly or your system may show a “tamper.” Please CLICK HERE for a step-by-step instructions
**NOTE** It is highly recommended to vacuum your smoke detector every 6-12 months. Use suction, do not blow air onto the smoke detector. Please call Lloyd Security or our Central Station before vacuuming to place the smoke detector on test for 24 hours. Not doing so may cause your device to go into alarm and our Central Station could dispatch.
4. What is a VoIP Line?
A VoIP line is a digital phone line that connects via the Internet. Vonage and Comcast are two main companies that advertise for cheaper phones using VoIP. The problem with digital lines is that if your power goes out, so will your phone. If you have a security system, it may not be able to communicate with no phone line available.
Fortunately, Lloyd Security, carries cell and radio connectivity devices that can act as your primary or backup phone line if you have a VoIP line or no phone line at all. This device also will keep your system powered if the phone lines are cut. Call our Sales Representatives today to learn more about this great device 612.874.9295 or 651.646.0131!
